January 08, 1944 Retired Married 4
UPDATE: Unfortunately Frank has passed on... please read his obituary on our Memorial page.

Spent 2 1/2 years on a LDS mission to Austria.  Married a young lady from Highland High School named Elaine.  After several years in the AirForce, an ejection ended my flying career. I retired as Director of Real Estate for Union Pacific Railroad.  We have four married children and nine grandchildren.

I want to say thanks to Gorm Klungervik for putting this all together for our class and remaining a good friend to everyone.

March 05, 1944 Surveyor Married 6

Other than being Inmate of The Month at the Salt Lake County Correctional Facility I did not have very many accomplishments to brag about in the years since 1962.
I served a mission in the Netherlands and Belgium for the LDS Church, joined the 142nd MI Linguist Company of the Utah National Guard and then got married to Kathy Featherstone.  We have 6 children and 16 grandchildren.
I spent my time working as a Land Surveyor, a profesion that was very rewarding and fun.

January 09, 1944 Grandma Married 4
Married to classmate Larry Hiller

Bright and early on the Monday morning following graduation I began working at the Federal Reserve Bank. After fellow Granitian Larry Hiller returned from his mission we started dating. We had lived in the same ward since our junior year but had pretty much ignored each other. I guess it took a mission for him to gain enough wisdom to ask me out.

On our first date I beat him at bowling, but he wasn’t discouraged and we continued to date and were married about two years later. I continued to work while Larry completed his education, and then I “retired” and we started our family.

We have one daughter and three sons and two of the cutest and smartest grandkids ever. I’ve been very fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom and a spoil-‘em-rotten grandma—which is more fun. I also keep busy with church callings.

Larry retired recently and we hope to be able to travel a little and spend time with family and old friends, as well as making some new friends along the way.

Married to classmate Ila Newman

After high school I served an LDS mission in North Germany, then majored in journalism at the U of U. While still in J-school I married a fellow Granitian, Ila Newman. In 1969 I went to work in publications for the LDS Church. In the course of my 42-year career I served as managing editor of the Church’s international magazines and as assistant managing editor and then managing editor of the New Era. I was marketing manager for the magazines for several years and then became a senior editor for the Ensign. One of the great blessings of my career was the privilege of meeting many wonderful people across the U.S. and around the world, some of whom have become dear friends.

Ila and I have three sons and one daughter, and we have two grandchildren so far. We enjoy travel. Our favorite trip was three weeks spent in Italy, Egypt, and Israel.

I’m loving retirement. In fact, if I’d known how great it is, I’d have skipped the career and gone straight to retirement. I volunteer at the local grade school two mornings a week, working with second graders. (Having spent several years in second grade myself, I’m something of an expert.) I also volunteer at the Church offices one day a week. (They’re graciously allowing me to work off the missing petty cash.)

Looking forward to seeing all of you geezers at the reunion. I shouldn’t be too hard to recognize. I’ll look just like myself. I’ve arranged for a makeover from a lady who works at McDougal Mortuary.
