Hello my fellow 1962 Farmers. First I want to thank our committee for making this happen. I worked for Newspaper Agency Corp from June 1961 until Aug. 15, 2007, after 46 years and change; I retired from NAC as Head of Production Analysis. In April 1963 I applied for and was accepted for a fulltime position in NAC's pressroom that also offered a five yr. journeyman pressman apprenticeship. So I moved from the Circ. Dept. to the Pressroom. Four months after I moved to the Pressroom I started my Apprenticeship. I completed the five yr. Appshp. in four years and became a Journeyman Newspaper Pressman. I was elected and served as Pres. of Local N-28 of the IPPAU for 3 1/2 yrs. I later had the opportunity to move to management, after many positions all related to pressroom production I ended up with the job I had at retirement. If anyone cares to know about newspaper production, just ask. By the way my replacement was a Chimpanzee.... |

After leaving Granite High, I went to BYU for 2 years. While I was there, I met a really great guy from Montana, who had just returned from a mission to Australia. We fell in love right away. We had so much in common and believed the same way about everything important. We ended up getting married after going with each other for 8 months. We were married for 40 years, had 6 kids together and had so much fun and so many adventures along the way. Roger had such a good sense of humour. He was such a hard worker and loved to serve other people. One day he woke up and had a stroke. I took him to the hospital and we found out he had 6 brain tumors that were malignant. He died 11 days later. It was such a shock that I couldn't believe it! He was always in perfect health and took really good care of himself and ate very healthy food. That happened 7 years ago. Since that time, I lost my oldest daughter to an unexpected heart attack 5 years ago. She had Down's Syndrome and was such a dear companion and friend to me. I really miss her a lot. I haven't lost anyone else since then, thank goodness!!! I am really lucky, though. I have 5 wonderful children left and they are all so good to me along with their husbands and wives. We all get along great!!! I have 8 grandchildren and they are really sweet to me, too! We get together all the time for birthdays, church events, sporting events, school events, etc. We love to support each other and know what is going on in all of our lives! We laugh a lot and just have fun together!!! I hope everyone is doing great and I hope to see everyone at the Reunion, but if I don't make it, have a great time!!! Love, Rosie Ellison. |
